Abstract

Agriculture plays a pivotal role in the Philippine economy, particularly in rural areas, where a significant portion of the population relies on it for livelihood. However, the sector faces challenges related to low productivity, climate change, and limited access to modern technology. This study investigates the impact of applying Big Data technology in enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability in rural Philippines. The urgency of this research is underscored by the need to address food security concerns, optimize resource utilization, and improve the income of smallholder farmers. Traditional farming practices often fall short in meeting these objectives, necessitating innovative solutions. The research methodology involves the implementation of Big Data technology for data collection, analysis, and decision-making in agriculture. Remote sensing, sensor networks, and data analytics are integrated to monitor soil conditions, weather patterns, and crop health. Farmers receive real-time information and recommendations through mobile applications, enabling them to make informed decisions on irrigation, fertilization, and pest control. Through a series of field trials and surveys, this study evaluates the impact of Big Data technology on crop yield, resource efficiency, and income generation. Additionally, the research assesses the social and economic implications, including the empowerment of rural communities, job creation, and market access improvement. The findings reveal that the application of Big Data technology significantly enhances agricultural productivity in rural Philippines. Crop yield increases, resource use efficiency improves, and farmers' income rises. Moreover, the technology fosters resilience against climate change effects, as adaptive measures can be promptly implemented. The adoption of Big Data technology in agriculture not only benefits farmers but also contributes to national food security and economic growth. This research serves as a model for sustainable agricultural development, emphasizing the potential of technology-driven solutions in addressing the challenges faced by rural communities.
